Welcome!

Follow along with us as we travel to Uganda this year and serve alongside Youth for Christ.

Loving Like Jesus

Tuesday was such an incredible day of ministry, but it's hard to put it all into words (but I only have a few minutes to get this post out, so this is what we get today). Our students are blowing me away with how they are engaging with kids, jumping into skits and dances, and truly seeing the people of Uganda, whether it is the students in a school or the families on the side of the road.

Our team has talked a lot about how strange and difficult it feels to come into these schools and be treated with a kind of "celebrity status" simply because we are muzungu (white). And when I say celebrity, I'm not over-exaggerating. In some of these schools, it is somewhat overwhelming when we are swarmed by masses of children who want to see us, high five us, and touch our arms and hair. This is the reality here, but Andrew, our Ugandan YFC leader, reminded us during our evening family time that each of us is here for a purpose. God has a purpose for each one of our students and leaders in being here in this country. A part of that purpose is to see people - to have an interaction with those who may never before have had that touch from a person who loves Jesus. And not only that, but to share with them what we know is true - that Jesus loves them. I saw this on full display today as our students served and I feel so honored to be a part of this team. I'll talk about this more in a later post - and maybe even have one of our students share their experience and what they have been learning.

To finish the day, we played football (soccer) with the YFC team on their property, and it was intense! We were all ready for dinner and a good night's rest after that!

Post-football snack time
Today is another early morning and we are off to our first secondary schools (high school age students) and another primary school.

There is so much more I could and want to say, this post does not do any of it justice. But for now, just know that our team is doing great and they are serving the Lord so faithfully.
